Oxide StudiosOxide Bait Car
Police Honeypot Vehicle System

Set the trap in any car.
Only officers see it.

Officers install a hidden chip into any car in four seconds. Civilians see a normal vehicle. Officers get a handheld remote with live telemetry, door locks, engine kill, steering override, a speed limiter, and a dashcam feed. The moment a non-officer drives off, dispatch gets the alert and every action lands in a persistent audit log.

  • QBCore · QBX · ESX · Oxide
  • Server-authoritative controls

Chip it in four seconds.

An officer sits in the target vehicle, uses a baitcar_chip, and a cancellable four-second install runs with a repair animation. The server re-verifies the seat, the vehicle type, and the plate before the chip is consumed and the deployment goes live.

  • One chip consumed per install, and only after every server-side gate passes
  • Plates must be unique among active deployments; bikes, boats, helis, and planes are rejected
  • Per-officer cap of 3 active deployments, tracked by character id so disconnecting never frees a slot
  • To civilians the chipped car looks identical to any other car on the street
[ 02 ]

Every control, straight off the car.

The handheld remote shows live speed, heading, street and zone, fuel, engine and body health, and who is inside. Lock the doors, kill the engine, bias the steering, cap the speed, strobe the lights, sound the alarm, or drop a waypoint. Every action is validated server-side.

  • Signal strength bars scale with the officer's distance to the bait car
  • Steering override: lock, left, or right, with analog steer input disabled while active
  • Speed limiter caps the car at 30 mph by default; strobe flashes every 150 ms; horn pulses for 1.5 s
  • State lives on the vehicle's entity statebag, so every officer's remote stays in sync without polling
[ 03 ]

Dispatch knows before they clear the block.

The first time a non-officer sits in the car, a 10-66 Bait Car Entry alert goes out. Drive off above the speed threshold and the one-shot 10-16 Bait Car Triggered alert fires through oxide-dispatch, ps-dispatch, cd_dispatch, or any other o-link dispatch adapter with plate, model, and coordinates.

  • Trigger defaults: above 8.0 m/s for 1500 ms with the engine running, one-shot per deployment
  • Optional fake wanted level on trigger, default 3, set to 0 to disable
  • Entry alerts are rate-limited to one per plate every 30 seconds and never fire for officers
  • Config.DispatchJobs broadcasts to sheriff or EMS without granting them deploy access
[ 04 ]

Watch the cabin. Press F8 to record.

A scripted camera rides inside the bait car and streams to the officer through a HUD overlay, with an optional timecycle filter for a grainy CCTV look. Press F8 to record, and the clip uploads through Oxide Police into the MDT Video Storage tab alongside bodycam footage.

  • Clips cap at 45 seconds and upload to Fivemanage or Discord with a thumbnail captured 1 second in
  • Every clip carries the plate, vehicle model, recorder, and deploying officer
  • Feed closes itself when the car despawns, leaves scope, or loses its chip
  • Per-class and per-model camera profiles, tuned live with /baitcardashcamtune and pasted into config
[ 05 ]

Officer-only blips. A full audit trail.

Active deployments show as map blips only to jobs in Config.AllowedJobs, visible at any zoom level. Every state change writes a row to baitcar_events and streams to a live officer-only event feed, so the arrest comes with a paper trail.

  • 20 audit event types, from deployed and lock through triggered, chip_removed, and decommissioned
  • Rows store officer and suspect character ids, plate, model, and coordinates, with indexes for fast queries
  • Live feed goes to authorized officers only; civilians never receive it, even standing beside the car
  • Sensitive fields such as the deploying officer stay off the statebag and never reach civilian clients
[ 06 ]

Two modes. One counterplay.

Ship the remote as an inventory item officers carry and risk losing on death or search, or flip one config key for a /baitcar dashboard with a radial entry. Civilians get a fair shot too: a screwdriver search that can pull the chip without ever confirming a car is bait.

  • Config.UseRemoteController picks the mode; controls and the dashcam work identically in both
  • Dashboard lists each deployment with plate, model, install time, and state, plus stat tiles and a live feed
  • Screwdriver search runs 12 seconds with a 50% default success chance; a win returns the chip to the suspect
  • Clean cars, failed rolls, and rate-limited searches return the same message, so it is never a detector
