Oxide Pest Control

Pest control gig job for FiveM servers — UV inspections, perimeter spraying, bait stations and wasp nest removal.

Overview

A pest control gig job where players clock in at the Bugstars depot, take the company van, and answer service calls about cockroaches, rats and wasps at houses, restaurants and warehouses. Every cockroach and rat call starts as a mystery: the technician walks the building with a UV torch and logs the droppings, gnaw holes and grease marks that glow in its beam. Once enough are logged, the findings name the pest, explain each sign and mark the nest, and the van hands out that pest's gear: a backpack sprayer for a perimeter spray against cockroaches, bait stations for the rats' runways. Wasp calls are a climb: set up a ladder under the eave, hold foam on the nest while the swarm shoves the aim, and scrape it into the bag. A stage card and a marker show what to do next at every step. The report at the van scores the work, and an unfinished treatment or a missed nest brings an unhappy customer's callback. A 5-tier progression system (Trainee Technician to Master Exterminator) raises pay and opens restaurants, warehouses and wasp calls. Two players can share a van as a crew, each paid on their own level, with a 15% co-op bonus.

oxide-pestcontroljob is framework-agnostic through o-link and runs on QBCore, Qbox and ESX. There is no framework job or inventory item to set up.

The Oxide HUD card placement needs o-link 1.12.1 or newer. With an older o-link, the cards use the job's own positions.

Database: Uses the shared job_progression table, storing pest control entries with job = 'pestcontrol'. Tracks per-character level, total jobs, daily streak, complaints, and timeout state. Pay owed to a player who disconnects or logs out on shift waits in the shared job_pending_payouts table and is paid at their next login. Settings live in the shared oxide_settings table. All three tables are created automatically on first start.

Configuration: Nearly every setting is edited in-game through /pestcontrol settings, a searchable editor with Basic and Advanced tabs and in-world placement for depots and properties. The files in shared/config/ are the factory defaults imported on first boot. Changes apply live, with no restart.

Frontend: Vue 3 + Vite + Tailwind CSS. Renders the shift menu with cinematic camera and crew headshot portraits, incoming call cards, the call timer, the stage card (objective, count and progress, the call's steps, tank and coverage bars, foam and swarm rings, key prompts), the findings card, the marker over the next spot, the end-of-shift payment summary, tutorial tooltips, 3D floating waypoints and the settings editor. Both cards register with Oxide HUD when it runs, and otherwise sit clear of the usual top-corner HUDs.

Menu Style: Configurable between the full NUI menu (cinematic camera, crew portraits, progression card) and a lightweight context menu shown by the server's own menu resource.

Streamed assets: The backpack sprayer tank (shaped for the male and the female body), the sprayer wand, the bait station, the glue trap, the wasp nest live and foamed, and the UV signs: rodent droppings, roach droppings, gnaw holes, grease marks, the rats' burrow and the cockroaches' harbourage, each with its glowing twin. No extra downloads are needed.

Features

  • Three Pests, Three Treatments — Cockroaches need the foundation sprayed all the way round, plus the harbourage dosed; glue traps on their trails pay a bonus. Rats need bait stations on their runways along the wall, with one close to the burrow. Wasps need the nest foamed and scraped off the eave. The van only hands out the gear the findings call for, and a report with an unfinished treatment or a missed nest pays less and brings a complaint.

  • UV Inspection — The torch is held in the left hand like the game's security guards hold theirs. Signs are real models on the ground and the walls (droppings, gnaw holes, grease marks, the burrow and the harbourage), and each one glows violet while the beam is on it. Walls block the beam. Hold the beam on a sign up close to log it. Signs bunch up around the nest, with a few strays to mislead. Log 4 at a house, 5 at a restaurant or 6 at a warehouse and the inspection is done: the findings card names the pest, explains each kind of sign, marks the nest and gives the treatment. Lower levels get pings to the nearest unfound sign; from level 3 the pest is named on the first sign; at level 5 the pings stop and finding every sign pays a bonus.

  • On-Screen Guidance — A stage card (top left) shows the next step, a count and progress bar, the call's steps, and the bars, rings and keys for the moment. A marker with its distance rides over the next spot: the van, the nearest sign, the next run to spray, the harbourage, the burrow, a runway spot or the ladder spot. The findings card sits top right. Each stage has its own first-time tutorial.

  • Backpack Sprayer — A tank worn on the back with a hose to a hand-held wand, seen by every player. Hold the left mouse button to spray, scroll to switch between a wide fan and a long stream, and watch each run of the foundation line fill from grey to green. The tank empties and refills at the van. Chemical sprayed past full or away from the foundation line counts as waste, and waste beyond the level's allowance is charged.

  • No-Spray Spots — From level 2, pet bowls and vegetable beds appear by the foundation line at the properties that have them. Spraying one brings an instant complaint and a charge.

  • Bait Stations & Glue Traps — Take a stack from the van, then right-click to place each one with a placement preview and a short kneel. Placed devices are visible to everyone nearby.

  • Wasp Nest Takedown — Take a stepladder from the van, set it up under the nest and climb into a close-up view. Keep the foam on the nest while the swarm's agitation builds and shoves the aim. Full agitation means a sting: damage, a pay charge and half the foam progress lost. From level 4 a sting knocks the technician off the ladder. Then drag a scraper under the eave until the nest is bagged.

  • Call Dispatch System — Calls dispatched at configurable intervals (15-45s) with a 30-second response window and a weighted pest mix. 3 missed or declined calls trigger automatic clock-out. Properties rotate so the same one doesn't come back until the rest have been visited.

  • Progression & Leveling — 5 tiers (Trainee Technician to Master Exterminator) with pay multipliers from 1.0x to 1.5x, tip chances from 10% to 40%, and unlocks for restaurants (level 2), warehouses and wasp calls (level 3). A daily streak system (up to 7 days) adds bonus pay.

  • Crew Co-op — Two players share a van and every call with a 15% co-op pay bonus. Either member can inspect, spray, place devices, climb the ladder and file the report. Leadership transfers if the leader clocks out, logs out, goes down or disconnects.

  • Detailed Pay Breakdown — Base pay per pest times a property multiplier (warehouses pay the most), plus distance bonus, speed bonus, every-sign bonus, glue trap bonus, level multiplier, daily streak and tips. Deductions for gas fees (5%), taxes (10%), van damage and treatment charges (wasted chemical, sprayed pet bowls and vegetable beds, wasp stings), with an on-the-spot fine for a destroyed van. The summary arrives as a popup or a phone message.

  • Phone Integration — Shift updates, customer callbacks and the pay summary arrive as texts on phones that support them and as mail on the rest. The phone rings for each incoming call. Works with qb-phone, lb-phone, gksphone, okokPhone, qs-smartphone, qs-smartphone-pro, yseries and Oxide Phone. Texts and the call ring need o-link 1.11.0 or newer.

  • Works with Oxide HUD — With the free Oxide HUD, players move or hide the stage and findings cards in the /hud editor, and the cards follow the HUD accent. Without it, the cards use the positions in /pestcontrol settings.

  • In-Game Settings Editor — /pestcontrol settings for admins covers pay, levels, unlocks, dispatch, the van, depots, the full property list with in-world placement of foundation lines, nest spots and no-spray spots, the inspection, the sprayer, the wasp takedown, the HUD, uniforms, model replacements and tutorials. Everything saves to the database and applies live.

  • Admin Test Tools — /pestcontrol level sets your own level, and Force pest in the settings editor makes dispatch send only one pest, so every stage can be tested without levelling up.

  • Model Compatibility — Every model is checked before it loads. A model missing from a player's game build is skipped with a warning naming it, admins are told once, and a replacement can be set in the editor.

  • Tutorial System — 19 contextual tooltips guide new players through calls, arrival, reading and logging the signs, the findings, spraying, devices, wasp nests, foaming, scraping, reports, callbacks, crews and level-ups. Tutorials can be toggled or reset with commands.

  • Anti-Abuse System — Complaint tracking with an automatic 30-minute timeout after 3 strikes (customer callback, sprayed pet bowl or vegetable bed, destroyed van, going down on shift). Complaints decay with each clean call. Every step of a call is checked on the server.
